NC State offers students housing options that range from traditional residence hall living to campus-based village communities to on- and off-campus apartment complexes owned and operated by the university for upperclassmen and graduate student residents.
Our residence halls are living-and-learning centers equipped with state-of-the-art technology. In our Living and Learning Villages — residence hall communities devoted to students who share similar academic, personal or lifestyle interests — you’ll live and learn with a ready-made group of peers who share your values, priorities and interests.
University apartment communities include Wolf Village, Western Manor and Wolf Ridge on Centennial Campus, plus E.S. King Village — an apartment community that serves NC State’s married, graduate and nontraditional undergraduate population.

Residence Hall Options
Live in the center of the action—residence halls are close to classes, campus resources, and recreation opportunities. You’re also a short walk from NC State dining halls, which are nationally recognized as among the best in the country. Whether you’re making new friends over a game of pool, taking a break in the study room or gathering your neighbors for movie night, it’s all part of the real college experience.
Who Can Live in a Residence Hall?
If you’re a full-time NC State student, you can live in a residence hall.
What Are My Options?
You can live in one of our 20 on-campus residence halls. Some buildings may be reserved exclusively for Living and Learning Village members. Explore your options below:
- Traditional hall-style buildings: In a traditional hall-style building, the room opens up to a hallway that leads to the rest of the floor with community bathroom(s) shared by all of the residents of the floor. In most cases, halls are co-ed but divided into sections by gender. Housekeeping staff cleans the hallways, stairwells and community bathrooms daily. Since each room opens to a long hallway, these spaces less private than suite-style buildings.
- Suite-style buildings: In suite-style buildings, there are also typically two students per room that share a common bathroom area only used by the suite-mates and their visitors. Suites are gender-specific and can house between 8 and 12 students. Housekeeping staff cleans the bathroom on a daily basis. Suites offer a more private, intimate atmosphere than hall-style buildings.
- Hotel-style buildings: Two students share a room with a bathroom. A common space near the service desks brings people together for social and academic events.
Note – University Housing provides general measurements for each residence hall/apartment style on its website and in other printed materials. Because each building is unique, variations exist in room dimensions. University Housing recommends that applicants use measurements as a general guide only. Refunds, credits, room changes, or cancellations will not be granted because of variations in dimensions.

** Beginning in Summer 2020, E.S. King and Western Manor changed to a semester rate, instead of a monthly rate. Housing agreements align with the academic year with an option to extend into the summer. University Housing offers one housing agreement for all locations.

- Wolf Village remains open during Winter Break. Pre-registration required, and additional charges will apply.
Wolf Ridge apartments
- Each apartment has a fully equipped kitchen including a dishwasher
- Costs include a fully furnished apartment, all utilities, and laundry
- High-speed internet (ResNet) is required and charged separately through OIT
- WolfTV (streaming services) is required and is provided in all residential facilities and to all residential students on their personal devices
- Wolf Ridge remains open during Winter Break. Pre-registration required, and additional charges will apply.
E.S. King Village double apartments (Undergraduate option)
- NEW for the 2020-2021 academic year — One-Bedroom, Double occupancy apartments
- Fully furnished one-bedroom units with two Twin XL beds, a full kitchen, private bath, and common living area
- All rates are per person and billed per semester (fall and spring)
- High-speed internet is required and charged separately through OIT
- Apogee streaming services are required and provided in all residential facilities and to all residential students on their personal devices
- Residents in Buildings D, F, and G must pre-register for housing over Winter Break, and additional charges will apply.

Wolf Ridge Apartments

At Wolf Village, you’ll experience all the advantages of apartment living near Western Boulevard. You can enjoy access to university resources, study lounges, and resident advisors as well as a fitness room and volleyball courts. E.S. King Village Apartments
- Eligibility: Sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students, post-doctoral students, students with families, and NC State faculty and staff
- Availability: Studios; one- and two-bedroom apartments
- Features: Family areas including two playgrounds, garden, laundry
- Furnished: Some studio and one-bedroom units are furnished
- Location: Gorman Street and Sullivan Drive
E.S. King Village is more than just a place to lay your head—it’s a diverse, multicultural community. You live among graduate students and non-traditional undergraduate students as well as visiting faculty and scholars. Western Manor Apartments
- Eligibility: Sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students, post-doctoral students, students with families, and NC State faculty and staff

- Features: Family and green spaces, convenient to both campuses

- Location: Avent Ferry Road
At Western Manor, you can enjoy a quiet community close to Main and Centennial campuses with graduate and postdoctoral students, and faculty and staff members as neighbors. Off-campus: Coastal Quarters in Morehead City, NC
- Eligibility: NC State students studying at the Center for Marine Sciences and Technology (CMAST) in Morehead City
- Availability: Two-bedroom apartments with two full bathrooms
- Features: A/C, Wi-Fi, ADA accessibility
- Furnished: Yes, fully-furnished with washer and dryer
- Location: Guardian Avenue, Morehead City, NC.
These furnished two-bedroom townhomes are conveniently located approximately 0.5 miles from CMAST. Apartments include an updated sofa, lounge chair, dinette table and four chairs, refrigerator, stove, oven, and washer and dryer. Our two-bedroom units can accommodate four students and include extra-long twin beds, dressers, and built-in closets.
